This is a picture of me with Richard Arnold at convention in Dolton, Illinois that featured Armin Shimmerman. Richard is a really cool guy who was a close friend of Gene Roddenberry and former "Star Trek" expert for Paramount Pictures. Now Richard goes around the country to emcee conventions and tell a lot of behind the scenes information about Trek and about what will be coming up.
This is a picture of me with Armin Shimmerman taken at the same convention as above. Armin plays the Ferengi Quark on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". Before his appearance he was able to walk around the convention without many people recognizing him without his makeup. :)
This is a picture of me and George Takei taken at a convention in Springfield, Illinois. George played Mr. (later Captain) Sulu in "Star Trek: The Original Series" and all of the "Star Trek" movies with the original cast. George was a real nice guy who actually took time to take pictures and chat with the fans while signing autographs.
This picture was taken at "Trek Fest X" in Riverside, Iowa, "The Future Birthplace of Capt. Kirk". Grace played Yeoman Janice Rand on "Star Trek: The Original Series" and "Star Trek III" and "Star Trek VI".
Here are some autographs of Science Fiction actors I have met.
Walter Koenig played Pavel Chekov on "Star Trek: The Original Series" and the "Star Trek" movies with the original cast. I met him at my first Star Trek convention, in Moline, Illinois.
George Takei played Hikaru Sulu on "Star Trek: The Original Series" and the "Star Trek" movies with the original cast. In the movies, he campaigned until he was made Captain. I met George at a convention in Springfield, Illinois.
Bruce Hyde played Lt. Kevin Riley in two episodes of "Star Trek: The Original Series". Today, Bruce is a teacher at St. Cloud University in Minnesota. I met Bruce at "Trek Fest XI" in Riverside, Iowa. (The Future Birthplace of Captain Kirk.) Bruce gave a great speech, then sang the song ("I'll Take You Home Again, Kathleen") that he sang over the ships intercom in "The Naked Time".
Grace Lee Whitney played Yeoman Janice Rand in "Star Trek: The Original Series" and two of the "Star Trek" movies. I met Grace at "Trek Fest X" in Riverside, Iowa.
Michael Dorn played Mr. Worf, the Klingon tactical officer, on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and plays him currently on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", as well as in the Next Generation movies. I met Micheal at a convention in Chicago, Illinois.
Marina Sirtis played counselor Deanna Troi on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" as well as in the Next Generation movies. I met Marina at a different convention than the Shimmerman one in Dolton, Illinois.
Armin Shimmerman plays Quark, the Ferengi bartender, on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". I met him at a convention in Dolton, Illinois.
Robert Picardo plays the Emergency Holographic Doctor (my favorite character) on "Star Trek: Voyager". I met him at a convention in Peoria, Illinois.
David Prowse played the body of Darth Vader in all of the "Star Wars" films, although James Earl Jones provided the voice. I met David at the opening of the Starlog store in the Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, Illinois. A former weightlifting champion, David now owns a gym in London, England.
Here are some autographs of music people I have met at concerts.
Barrett Hanson, aka Dr. Demento, has a nationally syndicated radio show in which he plays musical and spoken word comedy. I've never actually met Dr. Demento; I got this picture when I joined the Demento Society.
"Weird Al" Yankovic is the most well-known musical comedian working today. Please see my "Weird Al" page for more information.
Moxy Früvous is a Canadian band that I saw at the 1997 Decatur Celebration. I bought their CD "The B Album" and had it signed by band members Jian Ghomeshi, Mike Ford, and Murray Foster.
Bobby "Boris" Pickett is mostly known for writing and recording the song "The Monster Mash" in the 1960s, although he has recorded other comedy bits like "Star Drek". I met Bobby at the 1996 Decatur (IL) Celebration.
Sheb Wooley has been an actor and singer for many years. Although he's done a lot of country music, I went to see him because he recorded "The Purple People Eater" back in the 60s. He was at the Decatur Celebration with Bobby "Boris" Pickett.
Here are some miscellaneous autographs that don't fit in my other sections.
Butch Patrick is probably best known for playing Eddie Munster on "The Munsters". I met Butch at the 1996 Decatur Celebration.
