Evanston
Titans make a good impression at Evanston first weekend!
Opponent: Evanston
Game 1: Titans 19 - 25 Evanston
Game 2: Titans 16 - 25 Evanston
Despite receiving a yellow and red card during this game, the players were awake and took the game to Evanston. Passing was a strong point out of serve receive and in defense, with Mike Smeltzer leading the way with some amazing pickups! We have some good block touches and were able to go on scoring runs as a result. It was a tremendous game of good volleyball. In the end the 6'4 and 6'5 hitters for Evanston proved too much for us and we lost in two but came away please with a strong team performance.
Opponent: Lincoln Park
Game 1: Titans 23 - 25 Lincoln Park
Game 2: Titans 23 - 25 Lincoln Park
The Titans were in complete control of this game, scoring 23 points for themselves and making 21 errors (thus points for the other team) in both games. Having got really fired up for the Evanston game the Titans made some tired and not smart decisions at the net and this lead to their demise in game one. In game two the Titans came back and seemed refreshed and took an early lead. They looked impressive till 21-14 and then 'mo' went to the other side and two big scoring runs from the opposition and the game was theirs.
Overall it was arguably the best we had played this season so far and at the Evanston tournament in general. The second weekend of this tournament will be held on May 19th the weekend before regional games.
